Lisa Rivera Skubal Named to North America's Top 50 Economic Developers

Cedar Valley of Iowa - Consultant Connect, a consulting agency for economic developers and site consultants, has named Lisa Rivera Skubal, Vice President of Economic Development for the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber to its 2016 list of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers. The economic development professionals selected for this list were nominated by their colleagues in both the economic development industry and the site consultant community for excellent practices, innovation and success in building the communities they serve.    Skubal is the first economic development professional in the State of Iowa to be named to the list.

Lisa Skubal has been an economic development practitioner for over two decades.  As the Vice President of Economic Development for the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber, Lisa is responsible for leading staff and programs dedicated to business recruitment & retention, talent recruitment & development and business & economic information delivery for the Cedar Valley of Iowa.

Skubal holds a B.A. in Political Science and M.S. in Community Development from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and graduated from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute in Norman, OK.   Skubal earned her Certified Economic Developer designation in 2000.     She was also a recipient of the 2004, Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier Newspaper’s 20 under 40 Award.

“Being selected for this list is a great honor and unexpected. This recognition by peers and site selection professionals validates the work we collectively do every day regionally to advance the Cedar Valley and the State of Iowa on a North America platform,” says Skubal.

Some notable projects Skubal has been involved with attracting to the Cedar Valley include the Hunt-Wesson plant (now ConAgra Grocery Products), Target’s Dry Goods Distribution Center and Refrigeration Distribution Center, Ferguson Enterprises’ Distribution Center, and Ryder Integrated Logistics.

Skubal resides in Washburn, Iowa with her husband Bill and their three children, Maria, Maggie and William.
