Over 100 parents and students from Waverly-Shell Rock and surrounding school districts explored careers in manufacturing and toured Waverly manufacturers during the second annual Manufacturing Night for Parents and Students held during Manufacturing Week.

The event began in the High School Commons where students and parents met with representatives from 5 Waverly manufacturers - - GMT Corporation, TDS Automation, United Equipment Accessories, Winnebago Industries and CMI Roadbuilding. Also participating were Hawkeye Community College and Iowa Workforce Development. The W-SR Robotics Team and Go-Hawk Manufacturing were on hand to exhibit their projects and visit with participants as well.

After a presentation from participating companies, students and parents boarded buses to tour the four participating manufacturers: GMT, TDS, UEA and Winnebago. The night culminated with a drawing for three $500 scholarships for participating high school seniors going into a manufacturing-related field.
